Project Turbo Blade
« on: January 02, 2010, 05:25:11 PM »
Posting this up for a mate Gixerjon as he dunno his way about computers.

What he`s starting with, a tidy fightered blade:-

Plans are:-

1)  Loadsa fancy airbrushing on bodywork/wheels by me cos thats what I do.
2)  Powdercoat frame/swingarm with trick finish
3)  Some fancy engineering bits n bobs by gixerjon cos he`s an engineer.
4)  Blow thru turbo system by both of us (he`s my turbo build buddy. lol)

Im lending help with some turbo knowledge n we`re generally helping each other along with parts/knowledge to build similar systems for my bandit (project budget dragqueen) n his blade.

First stage is paintwork while collecting/making turbo bits, same as me really. Got a good few bits stashed away already between us tho for that part.

He sent me up a sorry looking spare tank:-

Whipped it into shape:-

Main image we chose for tank:-

We wanted the curved blade knives in there to tie in with other bike aspects I`ll go into detail later about:-

Quick wave of the airbrush n Taa-Daaa:-

Viewing the pics at this size n res gives no real idea of detail work in there believe me. Check out the tecture material effects, reflections, veins, etc, etc. Gonna be another trophy hunter methinks. lol.

Should look nice when clearcoated n polished up to mirror shine!

Not quite done yet tho. Still got artwork on rest of tank to do. I`ll post pics as get those bits done. Seat unit n front mudguard to do yet too. Should be nice. :coolg

Some awesome engineering bits getting done by gixerjon too like these thick lexan headlight brackets which are full size replicas of riddicks curved knives. Cant see back in pic but full knive shape. Nice!

He`s working on some other well trick bits for it to finish it off nicely. Gonna rock.

An the bikes name to go on the tank!? Well we thought `FURIAN` kinda summed it up once turboed. lol.

Like the knives, they'd look cool with some LED lighting refracting through them.

Should look nice once whole tanks done n clear coated which will really make the artwork come alive. No clear on that image as yet. Will really kick out who once all done. Gonna be a goody.

Guys aiming for 180-200bhp at rear wheel with standard wheelbase n not much weight. Be a laugh. lol.

Sorry for slow progress but not a rush job so doing a bit here and there between other comission work. Cant wait to get other side done/clear coated/polished up as will really add depth to the black and kick out the colours, etc. Even without the clear its starting to look good tho!

Nother wee bitty today. Wanted to try get the impression of speed and movement in there somehow as gonna be a quick bike. Think I pulled it off by subtley shaping the clouds.

Me fat hand again to give idea of detail scale:-

Should get good start on other side tomorrow, and rattle along with it now Ive done one side n know the colours, etc Im using.

Gixerjon`s finishing off some weird Quad/RD350 engine hybrid then onto the blade. Collecting fair pile of bits in meantime tho in preparation. I`ll post up once the tear down n rebuild starts tho.

6 months later i started to think about doing a proper job of it and as you can see this is just the start, glad you like it so far.
A big thanks to jon for posting this here, as me and PCs dont get on:CUSS:
