« on: June 13, 2017, 09:19:41 PM »
Hi
I have a problem starting it cold , long time at starter only on 2 cylinders and findly all 4 runs .
An tonigth out for run it went down on 2 cylindres and the tachometer went down to zero
After a little while it went back firing all 4 , and tachometer was okay again , it was like that
3-4 times and i was home
any suggestions ??

is it the same 2 cylinders that aren't firing , i'd check simple things first , have you checked the wiring to the coils and give the carbs a clean out there may be a bit of shit in them you can have them off and back on again in half hour

Hi Pete
It is not carbs , they are cleaned
and they dont have any influence on the tachometer

reckon if it were me i'd get a multi tester and check the continuity of the wiring i had the same sort of problem i had with a fireblade and i couldn't work out was was happening as fuel was getting through, the plugs were sparking and by all means it should've fired up but it was intermittent what it was was a broken wire inside the harness that was going to the cdi and when the seat was on it wouldn't fire up but with the seat off if did but intermittently so check the wiring and 'wiggle' it about while doing so

Agreed. Dodgy wire somewhere, probably an earth in the ignition circuit, although it could be one of the ignition pickups, assuming they have 2. Been a while since I had a GPz so can't remember. Check the wires haven't gone brittle and broken anywhere.

Won't be the CDI or it wouldn't fire at all.
