what a pain in the a$$

Post by kwackkev22 »

i was asked buy a friend at work to sort the brakes out on hes zx9r and having some experience from my mito and zxr i said yes :smt011 the bike was a pain in the ass to push and move around the brakes where binding big time started with the back brake single piston had it striped down and cleand up put back on the bike and bled back up in less than 1 hr n a half :smt003 good times. now the front bad times striped both calipers down cleand every thing up sparyed them matt black looked brand new putt the bleed nipple back in and broke one of the castings :smt013 brought new set of calipers off ebay and robbed what i need of them start again got to the bleeding part just cant get the leaver to pump up hard striped back down checked master cyclinder try again still no joy tried rebuild kit on master cyclinder and still no better i must of drained the fluid 8 times at least and stared again every thing is fine on the bike all the bolts are tight and no leaks. god knows how they do this on a production line ive herd so many myths and tips its unreal ive even got a mitty vac pump and that was a total waste of 40 quid
if your brakes need sorting save your self the hassle and get it booked in some where oldman lol

Im very surprised to hear that the mity vac didnt sort it! Mines perfect!

Have you thought about taking the caliper off and moving it about to move any air about upto the nipple.

Make sure the reservoir is topped up when using the mityvac, if it runs out then it will suck air in and youll have to start all over again. I also get the bubbles as the fluid comes from the bleed nipple, and as far as i can tell its just where its sucking air from around the seal, so long as you keep the suction going you should be fine. Like i say ive doine all my bikes with a mityvac and not had any problems at all.

Out of interest did you completely empty the lines before putting fresh fluid in?

yeah i put my fingers over each banjo and pumped the mitty vac up and then release my finger it would suck rapidly the lines whernt compleatly dry but should be free from most fluild and the calipers have been overhald so they where bone dry when i started i was told that braded lines are relly thin in side so it was easy to get an air lock ive left it to settel over night gonner have an other bash today its just soo boring i had the engine out and did a top end rebuild in less time than this and had it running chopper
thnks rob
