Engines - anyone needing ?

Post by Mori Man »

I have a fair stack of engines sitting here and wondered if they are becoming ever increasingly difficult to source in the UK ?

I now have contact with a container service who do door to door deliveries of single items ie. engines.

However , if i add a 2nd, 3rd........ motor onto the pallet the shipping rate drops.

For one engine it's about £285 delivered if your close to the container port , the further away you are then that will increase (would need your address to get an exact rate) This fee covers all charges , your only left with duty - if any to pay :smt002

The best way is if some one acted as a distribution centre for them and is the closest to the port. Others then arrange pick-up or delivery from there and i am sure some beer tokens would be appropriate for being the middle man :smt001

What i have:

ZX-4 F3 - with blown head gasket (will need sump changed if you want to keep an oil cooler.
ZX-4 F3 - Bottom end and top end (This is where i got the BEET block from) - this could be merged with the H1 motors barrels and pistons.

ZXR400 H1 - Top end dismantled - bottom end complete.
ZXR400 H2 - My current engine, fully serviced and going like a whippet (available after my BEET build)
ZXR400 J2 - Keeping this one.

ZXR400 L5 - assembled / runner
ZXR400 SP - allegedly but doesn't have SP cam's in it, still to investigate further, I do have SP cam's i can install. / runner
ZXR400 SP - This one's for the BEET build.

Xanthus 400 - This was going to be the special build engine as all the casings are ZZR grey and looks good ! Will need stripped though to fit a ZXR gear change unless your able to modify your rearset to suit.

I can carry out service work & mild tuning work if required - of course you'll need to pay for parts and labour on top of the price of the engine. All you would be left to do is drop it in and fill with oil. Level of service and tune to be determined by your pocket :smt002 I will also hook up a starter motor and do cylinder pressure tests on completion of the service.

The motors can be left as is for you to carry out the work, running engines should still have their valve clearances checked and oil filters exchanged. Non of the engines are high milers so once serviced should give years of good life.

My recommended service would be:

New head gasket - regardless of what engine chosen.
(Valves lapped with new stem seals - although my H2 motor sat for 3yrs and doesn't blow smoke so maybe not so essential.)
New cam chain
New cam chain tensioner body complete
New cam chain blades
Valve clearance check / adjust (New pulsar gasket)
New oil filter
New Spark plug well O rings
New Rocker cover gasket and spark plug top gaskets

That should give you a motor good for the next 10,000 miles.

Additional options:

New clutch steels and friction plates + gasket
Head profiled and polished
Inlet and exhaust mild port
SP cam's installed (New or used if available)
New generator gasket
New sump plug and crush washer
All O rings replaced

Treat yourself to a x-mas special :smt002

If interested please post up and also if you would be willing to be a distributor * terms and conditions will apply to ensure all parties receive their engines.

Cheers,
