It has always annoyed me that a ZXR400 engine won't sit upright on the bench without bits of wood to support it..................I know they sit once the sump is off but you don't always need to take it off..............anyway

Today I was looking the engine that I damaged at the Manx and got annoyed because as ever it won't just sit there plus it still had the oil in it..............and it's not easy getting the oil out if the sump bolt is holding the engine up........................and a light bulb came on in my head...................

I fetched an old damaged frame from a dark corner and put the engine back into it.....................upside down :smt002 with the top rear engine mounting lined up in the lower mounting on the frame and hey presto it sat there balanced and at a reasonable height to work at it
oil came out easy and so far so good

Theres a couple of bits of frame that need cut away to make it sit even better but it really works quite well as it is...............................I'm a genius IMHO

inventive ! nice bit of lateral thinking

I just made a small table with blocks of wood screwed to it and a hole to access the drain plug.

Cant visualise it myself either, but it obviously works. Id be tempted to weld together cradle for it myself.
