Getting wheel bearings in!

seriously - im having a pig - frozen them and everything, but no dice, its almost as though they are too big ! are they supposed to be this tight ???

cant see anyway of fitting them, without buggering them up - any tips ???

They need to be knocked in - I used a large socket which sat of the outer steel ring - knocked in with a mallet - it will need a bit of effort to get them seated. The one that you really need to be careful with is the one that doesnt have a "seat" - if you drive that one in too far you will distort the bearing as it hits the inner spindle tube

Did you compare them to the old ones? They should go in ok after freezing, and requires minimal effort. If it's that hard to tap in you may very well have the wrong size.

I usually heat the hub a bit & they drop straight in :smt001

heat the hub + freezing and a load of WD40 followed by a few knocks with a rubber mallet and large socket should see them in.

Just make sure when tapping them in they go in 100% level or else one side will get jammed and there a right pig to then remove again!
