Been investigating my battery options.................
Standard battery is a YTX9BS.....................
But a YTX12BS is the same physicial size but a little taller................I think it will fit just fine..................thing is batterys can be expensive................but I've found a source of batterys that are very reasonabley priced.....................I can get YTX9BS for £30 and YTX12BS for £32
I'm hoping that even with postage to add that kind of price might appeal to you guys ????
So far I can't speak for the quaility but soon enough I'll be using one of these myself..................bought two today

Re: ZXR 400 battery
i use mds batterys, have done for years. They supply the YTX9BS eitehr Yuasa or varta, which are both cracking makes and its £36.99, think there delivery is £4, but often they do free delivery specials. the YTX12BS is abotu 2.5cm taller,, if you lose the fuse box holder it should fit. The YTX12BS is however £47.99 from the site.
What make is the battery you are being supplied?

I think these look very interesting, quite a few using them already and with good results.

Re: ZXR 400 battery
the batteries I able to buy cheap are Euroglobe...........but I suspect they do not make them just supply them cos the website is all about buying and selling batteries with nothing about spefic applications for batteries.they seem to be a battery dealer rather than manufacturer.
I don't much care at those prices I'll buy new batteries every year...............................
There is no doubt these are at the bottom end of the market
The bigger battery fits the ZXR well even with my CDI sitting on top of the battery the seat still fits............it's not perfect but it's a race bike.
If the CDI was in it's regular spot the seat would fit perectly.
Dont have time now but I'll reroute the wiring to move the CDI ...........racing this weekend so it will be interesting to see how the battery lasts

Re: ZXR 400 battery
I have a Japanese GS battery on my ZXR.. which was on it when it was imported in 2004 and it's still faultless
depsite the neglect!
They were swallowed up by Yuasa in 2006 so I don't know who makes them anymore, I know i'll gladly buy another one when I need to.
I've always stuck with Varta's for my VFR's.. they tend to last 4 or 5 years before i replace them.
The extra couple of quid (in the right place on a decent make) is imo well worth it.
Of course though its sensible to shop around.
I get most of my batteries delieverd from tayna.co.uk (cracking service, not too expensive)
But thats in part because im too idle to go shopping around most of the time.

used these loads of times .. quality .. and cheap.
although not the 9ah capacity advertised .. 8ah like normal.. good though, never had one fail.
tayna also do the varta ones for £26 and numax for £24 (+ delivery) I havent found cheaper yet without doing bulk orders.

Cargo, I get my batteries from Dunlop Agencies in Carryduff. I will price that one for you. My Honda ones were never more than £25.
