Hi there, I'm new and I'm from Italy (sorry for my not-perfect english) :smt003

First of all, this bike in Italy didn't have a big success, so it's quite difficult to find spare and special parts (btw it's difficult to find the whole bike too :smt003 ), but here in uk and in germany there's a lot of market for these things. :excited
I've just bought a 1992 zxr 400 L model with about 40k km, in quite good condition (some little scratches and cracks on the fairings), the bike runs quite smooth and i'm just using it in these days.

btw i'm going to refresh it this autumn, and i've would like to make a little shopping list, with yours advice if possible :smt003

-check the air filter (i think now it has the original one fitted on, K&N is a must :smt003 )
-find out a couple of dymag rims (5" for rear wheel)
-take some aluminium parts from jap4performance: aluminium upper stay, aluminium meter stay and the wounderful adjustable clutch lever
Image
-dyno jet kit
-shortened trasmission kit (did 520?)
-wavy front and rear discs
-ergal screws and minor parts
Any other things?

frentubo metal brake lines, new metzeler M5 interact tires and aluminium race exhaust can are already mounted on the bike.

thanks to all :smt003 :smt003

erm.

5" rear? Whats wrong with the std one.. plenty of good tyres available in 160 width...

when was the camchain / headgasket last done? These are usually first things to go on the bike.

the K&N filter is a bit 'werid'.. I was thinking of one until I spoke with Zimm who pointed out..

if you look at where the snorkel exits, it points at the end of the standard filter.. the K&N filter has a metal end so your airflow is going straight at a metal sheet, unless you start modding the airbox :S

everythign else is personal choice.. i'm from the 'standard' side of things :D

Well, 5" rim will fit 160 tires without problem, and if you prefer a more "expanded" tires, it could be better than the 4.5" :smt002
camchain / headgasket should be ok (no strange noise or high temp), btw I will check them with the other works (kit dyno, etc..)
