Daniel , if your doing that you would also be best to leave bike with zimm and have him do your shims too.
Bike needs to be cold for this service so would need to be left overnight - if your sociable how about getting a slab of beers in and camping over and havin a good gab with the fella. In the "blurry" morning zimm could then show you what's what and if you've no interest in learning you at least get to see the work being done and knowing what has been done
zimm will sort it right out for ya and your drive home will rock your socks
Treat a cam chain exchange as a major service so go with new plugs , oil filter , oil , air filter and coolant and just be over whelmed as to how smooth your bike is again
Soz, but just doing the chain is a bit half arsed !
Hopefully zimm will have a stock of shims in if your needing any.
Just a thought and a nice way to meet a fellow member
MM!

4 strokes are a piece of piss compared to 2T - trust me ! So if you watch what's being done you'll pick it up no worries (just remember to send zimm an anniversary card every year )
Once you see the pattern of the service it is oh so easy

I got shown by my Bro - before that I read a Haynes manual and it just confused the toad out of me . The next best thing is the actual factory service manuals - totally different layout to a Haynes but if you just read the chapter about what you want to do it all becomes very relevant.
When doing a new motor i usually print out the pages and have them beside me as I work on them - but once you've done one in-line four they are all pretty much the same so all you need is clearances
Desmotronic and reverse parallel twin gets more exciting

two strokes are easy
...................but getting a two stroke to be fast and sweet is a black art only understood by a very few

MM, do you have the factory service manuals on pc? oooh oooh oooh, pick me pick me!

Any chance of a copy? i've got the microfiche, very useful for finding my way about, but the service manual would be useful!
