Hello;

Just a query really, not a sale advert. I am thinking of selling my bike, it's a 1998 model ZXR400 with the green, purple, white fairing. 13-14k miles. I'm gona do some overlanding and bought an Africa Twin now so need to raise some funds for the trip, had dreams of keeping the ZXR as a track bike but I'm not that rich at the moment. The ZXR has been down the road a few times but nothing serious, it was my first "big bike" after my CG125 (about 4 years ago) so I did a couple of bad emergency stops (big big handfuls off the front in panic) and flew over the bars couple of times but at low speeds no more than 30mph. The front fairing has cracks in it and both the side panels have obvious "been down the road" signs as well as the generator cover. Now... do I be honest and sell it as is, if so how much am I looking at getting ? (It has brand new Maxxis tyres on it, less than 50miles on them) + Tax + MOT + kept in the garage + I will throw in some spare mirrors footpegs etc.

Or do I get some cheapo £300 fairing from Hong Kong and pretend the bike is mint ? Would I make the £300 back? The bike is mechanically sound but has cosmetic issues.

I want to be honest and just sell it as is, but I am also worried it will go for much cheaper than it is worth. What are your views?

Hello thanks for comming back to my post i have got mini indicators on now so i have the spacers i am too heavy handed to change bulbs as there a nightmare i have found some relays on ebay for around £10,
do i just take my old realy out and replace it with the new l.e.d one?

HaHa the old whats it worth chestnut! It's worth whatever someone will pay for it and depending how stupid they are your looking at between £500-1000, go hunt for a village idiot and you'll be laughing, Dont bother with new plastics you won't get the money back, bang it on ebay and let the masses decide.
Now some will say yet again there goes someone under valuing the zxr BUT im not going to give you more than market price and no one else is, so the market for zxr's is between £450-2k if you work on a scale of 1-10, 1 being a ratter for the lowest price £450 and 10 being mint for 2k where does your's sit?

umm send me some pics of the bike's fairing's if there as u say and not too bad i know a friend who is looking for a first biggy would be perfect as he'll av it down the road

first thing i'd think if you put them chinese fairings on is its been in an accident and would put me off so i'd say leave as it is and be honest, around a grand mark i would have thought at least.
