Hi All,
After a cold winter I replaced the battery with a new one but now when it starts up it there is a clunking noise. I think its a sticky starter motor as it seems to catch and start. Can any one help with how to remove the starter motor ??

more likely to be the starter clutch mechinism behind the genny cover
Starter motor is removed by disconnecting it and undoing the two M8 bolts holding it then slide it out of the crankcase. Make sure you dont lose the O ring

Im assuming you charged the new battery and the noise you hear isnt the starter relay?

It could also be the pin in the starter relay?
You never said if it IS starting or not? Is this just a noise you've only just noticed? If so, then it's always been there and it's fine!

Funny story. The bike cut out on the way home from work last night no noise just cut out whilst riding. I tried to start it and it would not start. I left it and tried agian but the starter was not even engaging just making a nasty ringing noise. Left it over night and tried it today the starter made the same noise then the bike started. ( just my luck as last night I had to call recovery to take me home doh.) So iM not sure if its the starter or the alternator as it cut out whilst riding.
