hey guys, been speaking to the owner about his bike ZXR 400 H2 - im genuinely interested in it but he sent me this message when i asked him about it
"Only trouble I've got with the bike is it's got a bit of an issue with hot starting, when the temp gets right up it can sometimes be a bit of a pig to start again. Think a lot of zxr's have this problem, think it might just want a new battery though, starts fine with a bump..."
can anyone help me out what could be the real problem with it??

We all wish we knew

It's just one of those things, a lot of people do have hot starting issues and there doesn't seem to be any common denominator.

No, I shouldn't worry on that account. However, if the battery is tired it's worth noting that these bikes are susceptible to poor starting unless the battery is tip-top. It's a relatively small battery for the size / compression of the engine and unless it is well charged and strong you will get problems. So if the battery is suspect it would help to change it.

I used to get this then i ran 2 or 3 tanks of posh premium tescos finest fuel through it.
Also, hold the starter button and turn the key off then on.

Not saying that's the cheapest you'll get it but Wemoto won't be undercut by much, if at all.

I was speaking to Zimm about this one a while ago.
I believe theres a relay in the ignition box that alters the ignition timing when starting the engine.
If this relay packs up it makes the bike difficult to start.
I had a fusebox where this relay was constantly clicking and it was a pain to start.. I replaced the fusebox and it was fine after that...

thanks for that guys, well so far, the battery is in need of a change - like i said, but hey, i can get them from halfords cheap
but she splutters a little when idling, however she died on me last night when she got a bit too hot after filling up, went to start and didn't want to know, had to wait a few mins before trying start her again, jumped straight to life afterwards, so may look at getting a new fuse box!
thanks for that link MoI - will fill that out now, has anyone actually boiled it down to a key problem yet?
