It's not actually a very good translation......................but none the less the sentiment is entirely good.

Sometimes I like to remind folks that while I'm a proud Ulsterman I am also equally proud to be born and bred in Ireland

You misunderstand..............the translation is correct it is a new year message..............but it is not what would be said in Irish if we met for a pint on new years eve..........

I actually typed in to google translate in English and what came out in Irish was a kind of literal translation.

You are correct......................... but it's not the expression that is used in Irish.
