Hi guys, just finished servicing my ZXR400 L3,the idle was pretty crappy so thought id adjust the idle speed cable, now the thing wont start,it ticks over fine and will fire up for a split second then die,ive re-adjusted the cable to the previous position and still nothing..boooo.
Is there anything else that this cable affects or have i just opened a hidden problem?

Check the fuel filter isnt full of crud.
drain your carbs.
check you have fuel in the tank
after adjusting the idle cable give the throttle a blip so the carbs will sit on the idle pin.

When you say idle cable, you mean the twisty knob on the rhs but the expansion bottle?

The idle adjuster opens the throttle butterfly in the carbs just like the twist grip does. Nothing else. Throttle cable might need a small adjustment but that would be negligible.
One suspects the problem lies here.............................

It started fine once i had finished,i left it for 30 minutes, started it back up,twisted the cable on the RHS and then it wouldnt start,i bumped started it,fiddled with the cable again and it was ok for 2 minutes.now it wont start,im pretty sure the the cable was tightened completely clockwise, and by service i mean changed oil filter and oil lol
