Frame question.

On my L9 there is an 8mm welded fitting on the outside left hand side of the frame towards the top level with the air box, doesn't seem to serve any purpose and on the right hand side there's an 8mm threaded hole top front of the engine mount again without any obvious purpose.

Does anyone know what they're for, are they lift points or something?

Thanks
Mark

The boss on the left hand side is to anchor a steering damper, which is connected to the left hand fork at the other end.
The tapped hole on the right hand side secures a plastic moulding which covers the overflow bottle and acts as a filler to divert hot air from the radiator. There is a similar tapped hole on the other side which holds the filler over the alternator cover.

Thanks very much for the reply.

That's interesting about the steering damper.
What model had those fitted or was it an optional extra?

Sorry, mislead you with the second hole, that's actually on the engine casing itself, next to the main mounting bolt, the one that is often used for sliders.

Just gone through some old posts on steering dampers, from what I've read it's a race add on that they catered for with the frame fixing.

Thanks for the info though.
