Fuel leak

Post by MRLZXR400 »

Hi,

Noticed a small pool of fuel under my ZXR400 this morning.
I also noticed I’d left the fuel tap on after last starting it a couple of weeks ago.
But there was definitely no fuel leak yesterday it seems to have happened overnight.
From what I can see it has come from a high point as there are traces of it on the header pipes and springs that sit near the oil drain plug area.

I doubt it’s the fuel tap as I replaced all seals on that in the summer and also serviced the carbs, new seals, needles, checked floats etc etc.

It wasn’t a lot maybe a teaspoon full or so on the floor.

I’ve since turned the fuel tap off and wiped the area down, had paper towels under the bike for a few hours now and no evidence of a leak since.

The bike starts fine, no leaks from carb overflows, doesn’t hunt or hang on tickover.

Anyone got any ideas please?

Thanks
Mark

Taken the tank off and found the leak is coming from the fuel pump body. New one ordered.
