I took my new ZXR400 on the track for the first time on Wednesday afternoon. I was very impressed with how my Green Monster performed.

If you keep the revs between 10,000rpm and 14,000rpm, the power is quite impressive.

My one mate has a Honda VTR 1000 and the other one has a Hyosung GT650R. I was all over them like a bad rash, which felt great

This is what my rear tyre now looks like after about five 20 minute sessions.



Even though I have braided hoses, the brakes are still nowhere near as sharp as my Triumph 675, but they did the job, and I didn't really notice much fade. Any ideas for improving the braking performance?

for the brakes have you tried replacing the master cylinders? i love your zxr!!!

just stick with the zxr400 ones but replace them with new ones.

You could go for a ZX636 front end, that way you get the radial calipers

Is there any way of just replacing the calipers and matching master-cylinders? At least just for the front brakes?

Regular changes of brale fluid can if not improve your brakes but certainly at least maintain them.

I've seen a ZXR400 on Ebay with GSXR600 K2 calipiers

As I am not very mechanically minded this may sound daft but, would certain calipers need a certain spec/size master cylinder?

i think all master cylinders are pretty much the same size, and it don't matter how big or small it is as long as there is good sufficient fluid in them.

Your quite right.

Your brakes are like any other hydraulic system.
The master cylinder on any bike is not going to be good enough to move the hydraulic arm on a JCB............you need a hydraulic pump and considerably more pressure than you can generate with your fingers.

So the relationship between master cylinder and calipier is important

i'm getting confused with fluid reservoirs sorry!

Big fliud reserviors are important too....................so my wife tells me anyway

that looks like a pretty nice fairing conversion there. get some more photos posted.
