H & Tina Got Married!!!

My village is a very peaceful and serene place most of the time. The church sits on a hilltop overlooking everything, and save for annoying me with spastic bell-ringing, all is quiet.

But it wasn't on Saturday!

Around half 12, there was the constant roar of motorcycles blasting through the village streets heading towards the church! Harleys, Sportsbikes, Trikes, Scramblers... every type of bike!

HUNDREDS of them gathered at the church.

My mate 'H' was getting married to his partner Tina!

Now, I've known H around 17 years, and we used to play American Football together for the Redditch Arrows. We clicked straight away because we were both psychopaths with no fear of anyone! He's also mates with my best mate, and like family to most. We even refer to him as 'Uncle H' most of the time! He's a great bloke, and helped us out a lot in the past with different things, and we'd do anything for him!

It's the first proper biker wedding I've ever been to, and H is a very well known man, and got a LOT of support! The church yard was rammed full of bikes, and I think it was the first time I'd ever seen H in a suit - and there were only about another 5 people out of the masses wearing suits! Everyone else was in leathers and mainly the uniform of his bike club - The Boring Old Fartz.

Now, can you imagine all those bikers in a church at once? That's hard enough, but then it came to singing the hymms! There was a vague mumble as nobody really wanted to sing the damn things - which I found piss funny!

All went smoothly (pretty much), and the knot was tied.

Photographs were taken outside, and congratulations given, then we all mounted up on our steeds.

The sound on that hilltop of hundreds of bikes starting their engines was truly amazing! It was like a constant thunder that must have been easily heard from miles around!

We followed the wedding cars in a procession through the village, headed for the celebrations at the Boring Old Fartz clubhouse.

That was something to behold!

Everyone in the village was out of their houses and whole families were in the street waving, as around 10 - 15 minutes worth of bikes roared through the village, outriders shooting off ahead to block off all the roads to let the pack through!

It was a magical ride, and something I've never been involved in before!

All this was set up and paid for by Boring Old Fartz MCC - the church wedding, transport, and an excellent spread of far too much food for everyone back at the clubhouse! They did a great job to make the day really special for everyone.

Now the bad news about it all...

About 4 weeks ago, H was taken suddenly ill and hospitalised, where they found cancer just about everywhere - brain, liver, the lot.

They gave him 8 weeks tops to live - hence why they booked the wedding ASAP. He's drugged up to his eyeballs, and speech was a chore, but he was still recognising people and trying his best to talk. He's always been a strong man, and he did great to get through the day!

So a happy occasion, but under tragic circumstances...

A sincere thank you to everyone who was there and especially to BOF for setting it all up!

CONGRATULATIONS H & TINA!!! :smt033 :smt030

Just for anyone on here who knew them...

H died on 5th May - a week after the wedding.

The funeral was Tue 15th May, and there were even more bikes there!

There was a parade of bikes from Hopwood Services at 12:00pm up to The Becks in Alvechurch, with the full funeral entourage to Redditch Crematorium starting at 12:30.

Awesome to be a part of - I choked up riding through the village centre with everyone out their houses and all the streets blocked by outriders again.

His eldest son rode his bike (Kwak RX1100 I think - much like the old ZZR) to give it a last ride.

It was heart-rending to see H's helmet on top of his coffin throughout the day, but all went smoothly. Even the sun shone for those few hours that mattered!

If I get a tenth of that turnout when I buy the farm I'd be more than happy!

R.I.P. 'H'
