Just a quick question.
Ive been having a few goes on my newly aquired 400 and my friend had a go on it yesturday, but when she came back she asked if i'd ever felt my right leg getting hot. Indeed i have, pretty much most the time i go out on it, but as im new to bikes i thought it might be normal, but she tells me that her zxr doesnt do it and said if that much heat it coming off it from somewhere it could warp or melt the side fairing or something.
Has anyone else had this feeling on there leg getting hot, only on the ride side though, not the left. Because it does it, you cant help but wonder if somethings going to catch on fire or something.
Any suggestions or advice?

you've got the pipe that side and the clutch cover so heat will come out, best thing to do is work out attualy were the heat is coming from

well not that im aware of. havent noticed anything leaking or anything. will check for definate though
my friend says hers doesnt get like it so the zuast and clutch cover might not be the problem?
just seeing if there's a known reason for this before i start investigating into something i know nothing about.

I think the real question here is: What are you actually wearing?
Jeans and trainers still?

Your battery all right, is it?
Had this on my ER5 when reg/rect went poo poo. Was causing the battery to overheat and warped it eventually. Didn't notice for a couple of months though.
Either that or she really enjoyed your ZXR more than hers.

The rectifier is on the left hand side. Ive actually had this before where it just seemed to get particularly hot on one side, but it just passed. I think its fine as long as the temperature needle isnt buried in the red part of the temp gauge.

well i went for a little go on it earlier to see where it gets hot, and it actually seems to be the frame where your calf muscle
yes im still wearing jeans ( i know i know, havent got the cash for the trousers yet ) but then my friend always wears jeans as she has no leathers but she never gets this hot feeling..
what do you mean by the plastics betweek the coolant bottle and fairing? GOt a pic? i can take pics of my bike if needed for better explanation. It never get really really hot or anything, you can just feel your calf and around the knee area getting warm as opposed to the left let not doign so.
oh and my temperature needle never seems to move at all off the bottom of the guage. Is that something to worry about? One of the previos owners had a switch fitted to the left side of the bike which can be switched on to turn on a fan for cooling, dont know what thats all about though

look at the microfiche there is supposed to be some plastic (black) between the fairing and frame over the coolant bottle just wondered if it was missing and you was feeling the heat from the bottle??
are your legs on fire?
