blowing bulbs...

In the space of a week my 7R has blown 3 bulbs. The first two were the city light and the mainbeam, and i noticed today one of the bulbs in the speedo has gone also. Is something going on? Surely all three bulbs life expectancy didnt end on the same day?

could be if they are the originals mate? or have you got a short somewhere, with all this rain water may have settled on a connection somewhere?

if once replaced they are still going its probably a regulator problem.

cheers guys, Havent replaced any of the bulbs as yet, i have just swapped the dipped beam bulb for the full beam bulb as i dont have the money at the moment for something thats gonna cost me about 30 quid! I like the idea of rain settling somewhere, but i reckon something might have gone electrically like the regulator as andy suggested, if there is too high a voltage across the system then things will start to blow. The bike is being stripped completely in about a months time and im going over the bike with a fine tooth comb for problems so maybe it will rear its ugly head! Ive noticed since ive had it that when you switch the head light on that the engine revs dip slightly on tickover, not sure if its related or not or whats causing that.

when you turn the lights on, they will draw current from the electrical system, which ultimately draws power from the engine. So the revs will dip slightly.

not to be worried about.

on a similar note, you can change the idle speed on my gf's golf by turning the heater/blower on and off.

could be worse, you could have a cg125 - useless headlight, and when you put the brakes (and hence the brake light) on, it dims even further.

yeah ive had a CG 125 and that was a little frightening. Im just wondering if Gem has the same problem on his 7R with the revs dipping?

Gonne check the regulator as i bought a multimeter the other day so will give it a going over in the next couple of days.
