HELLO :smt006
Right on the left hand side of my bike i seem to be missing some thing off the loom it's the white bloke with the red wire in it. Could this be why my battery was not lasting very long??? any help and advice is very much appreciated

Can you see which colour wires it's bridging?

Red/white and orange/black, for example?

More worryingly, that looks to me like it could be a quick fix to bypass a component... possiblythe reg/rec, but I can't remember off hand...

do yourself a favour mate seriously if your not got an idea or dont know anyone that would just get it to a kwak a dealer yes it could possibly cost a couple extra pounds to get it looked at but just ask to have them look at ya bike show / tell them where your concern is and ask if its been bodged and make sure you ask what the solution and how they are going to fix it and make sure that you ask for an itemized bill, beings you have been fugged, even if you havent its a good line to say ! , anyways hope you find / fix the problem,

Rob

i've not passed my test yet so i can't take it to a dealer as it's 10 mile away from me and i'm not going to pay them to pick it up. Will have to see what i can do

the bike goes o.k(i think) a bit lumpy till she gets going. But saying that is was starting to miss and bog down so i put some redX in the tank last week but the battery was full on dead just got one off ebay should be here friday i hope so i can take the bike for a run down the road and back.

red/black is the on the light circuit and so is red/white, so I shouldn't think that bridge is your broblem.

If your battery is going dead you'll either be looking at the reg/rec unit, or possibly the alternator. You can have the alternator reconditioned for a lot less than a new one...

if im right then the fuel pump rely connects to them wires! that wud mean the fuel pump is running all the time flooding ur engine when u rev it? if u think the battery aint charging an easy way to check is start it up face t 2wrds a wall and turn the head lights on, if when u rrev the bike the lights get brighter u know the battery is charging and the battery is naff :smt003

And looking at some pics it looks like it's a small black relay that goes on the battery box on the left hand side of the battery box

I think it may be the relay for the headlights that's missing, but as I haven't got a ZXR anymore I can't check!

It was hard to tell for sure from the wiring diagram...

I wouldn't have thought this would affect the battery/charging system, but if anyone thinks otherwise, feel free to correct me on that!
