Ok i wanna hear everything about both of the bikes compared
Cornering
0-60
Top speed
Reliability
MPG
Commuting
Motorway travelling
Roll on times
Oh and everything else you think i may find interesting
Which is more desirable ( i know this is going to be biased lol)
Cheers

tbh i dont think there is much to set the two apart performance wise incl 0-60, top speed and cornering
in regards to commuting and relaibility... the rs is a two stroke so it will break down a lot more than the zxr which is 4 stroke.
i loved my zxr, however i do have a soft spot for rs250s, something to do with the shear pull of a 2st power band and smell of the fumes
also, 2 stroke engines arent made for motorways, they r made for tracks. if u want a "long legger" then 4stroke all the way
if u wanna use a 2 stroke to do mileage then can i suggest

more to the point - how good are your engine rebuilding skills?
zxr - easier to maintain
rs250 - its a 2 smoke

just let me know where you are riding one so i can follow.....
mmmmmmm 2smoke

the RS will be better in all areas apart from practicality were the ZXR wins hands down!
good news is theres plenty of parts back up as it uses the RGV250 engine
personaly i love them to bits and there amzing to ride but i couldent put up with the serviceing and the cost of running one!

rs250 is a 2 stroke, so it wont like the steady revs of motorway riding, will require frequent rebuilds, will drink 2 stroke oil. on the plus side, they have that good old 2 stroke power band, will have good handling (aparently the pre 98 ones had crap forks though), and who doesn't like the 2 stroke smell?

i don't think you can make the comparrison.
I love the 4 stroke and 2 strokes but in different ways.
zxr, go out in the morning start it, ride off. ypou have to warm the rs up before you go anywere on it.
powervalves constantly need upkeep.
rene isn't the Rj22 discontinued also now though? not so sure how many parts are out there cheap for the engines.

they stoped them all now but i 'think' they still make parts for them
they are very popular with racers as well so theres loads of trick bits floating around so i cant see parts being a problem for a long time to come! they also never made a RS250 electric start so you've got the pain of kick start each time! the last of the RGV's did tho (if your lucky enouth to find one!)

I always heard that the only real competition in the twisties was an RS250. Sadly, in my ZXR days, I never came across one for a proper race (especially on The Cloverleaf)...
You can be sure the ZXR wins on MPG and top speed.
The RS will be lighter, and possibly accelerate faster - if it's not faster, it will FEEL faster, anyway!
Roll-on time are never impressive with 2t's.
I had the pleasure of riding an RGV250R at the same time as my ZXR, and it was a lot of fun! Made me feel like a Moto GP rider every time I opened the throttle - which in turn lead to me binning it between the back wheels of a lorry at 110mph! So I guess that's a downside lol!
250 2t's are an awesome second bike - but for everyday use.... don't.
You all should try one though!!!

One more thing about 250 strokers that I find fascinating:
A few years ago the 250 GP bikes were hitting over 170mph on some tracks - so that's obviously with a bike geared just for that track.
170 -ing mph on a track on a 250?!?!??! Isn't that just amazing????
Makes you wonder what you could get out of one with the right tuning...

That and the size of your family jewels for even attempting 170mph on one.

Todays motogp 250's still do 170 mph nothings changed there still that quick!, i remember going back to the 90's apperently the motogp 250 bike could kick a wsbk 750 around a track any day of the week, but its something i heard so i dont know if true, could possibly be true though with its fantastic lean angles and light weight flickability ! ,

I can believe that. Lorenzo was certainly faster on a 250 than the Ilmor at the start of this season, and the 250's haven't really changed or advanced that much. Even between the top runners from each class there's only 5 seconds difference in lap times.

It would be if you were on the same size machinery, but when your on a bike with an engine 1/3 the size, over a 3 mile track it isn't that much at all.

ok so what if we stopped comparing the ZXR to the RS and start comparing it to say an SV650.
If we used the same questions as in the original post give me some answers lol
