Well i have a few things that you all may like to know on this subject.
1. Japnese Laws have been revised, meaning that the new power restriction bands 'could' fit the 400cc four stroke engine perfectly. We know how the japanese control the Motorcycle industry, like it or not!
2. There has already been a simaler bike around in america for a few years. Its Called the Ninja250, along with the Ninja650. Wich we know as the ER6-F(wich i own) the bike is a more sport tourer to us than anything. Wether this new Ninja250 will have clipons, instead of the style handlebars the ER6 and 250 currently have i dunno. Looking at the pictures i think it is hard to tell.
3. Look at the photos, then look at the photo of a ER6-f does that nose look familiar. Backing up point #2
4. There is also a incoming surge of italian 500cc single cylinder Sports bikes. KTM have one defient. Caviga are developing one. and rumours say aprillia are also looking at the idea. Could this be the new 400cc? lightweight and agile sport bike. Ok it would have a whole diffrent power style, but would it still have the. Point, lean, scrape, stand up, repeat factor.

That's great news. It's a nice looking bike that. Fingers crossed this is a step closer to the return of the 400

How dare you talk like that on this forum!!!

Only thing aprilia have to offer are scooters, the mille and the tuono. The engine they were supposed to be using in the RSV400 was a race engine that needed rebuilding quite regularly, although the thought of one is exceptionally nice i think id give it a miss because of that. Im not too keen on that 250 there, think its a bit ugly myself, reminds me of my old gpx250.

the SXV engines need masive maintence but thats because there in a race ready state, i think the 550 is kicking out somthing like 75bhp so if they took the harshness out of it im sure it would be quite a reliable engine. Plus it weighs the same as a light weight single 4t yet its a twin. Id expect the same sort of performace/weight as the RS250 whats one hell of a good bike! just a shame they had to drop it

I think replacement parts are a very genuine reason not to buy a bike, along with the price of what your buying too. Just cos you pay more doesnt mean your getting better value.
But dont get me wrong its a gorgeous bike and i bet it would kick some butt, but i wouldnt buy it on looks alone. Id rather save my money for a new ZXR400

Dunno where your ordering from then, I get my kwak parts within 2 days if they arent in stock. Do you goto a main dealer? I use these guys
http://www.bowenmoto.co.uk/
Maybe its different now with parts coming in compared to a few years ago, but where i get my Kwak parts from they are also an Aprillia dealer. I was in there the other day and a guy bought a solenoid for his rs125 for 60 quid, when the guy behind the counter passed it to him he said 'and theres one very expensive solenoid for you'. all the guy could do was chuckle.
