Went for a ride on my bike, first one since i've bought it.



What a machine. Only took it to around 6k most of the time giviing it little throttle and being c areful under braking.

Also had the silencer in so was a bit quiet. I can now just about feel my fingers and toe's but my god it was worth it.

Hard to judge something on just an hour or two ride in the winter but I think it's safe to say I have made the right choice buying this bike!!
Considering I haven't rode for a few months found it quite easy to ride. Felt more stable and higher speeds and easier to control and lower speeds i.e
turning at light at low speed or into a side road. (than my zzr 250)

Drained me though, feel tired now. Trip to the sauna to warm up and chat up some bikini clad women

I remember when my ZXR was off the road for a while, and I was using a streetfightered VFR750 instead. When I eventually got back on the ZXR I was amazed at the handling of it! The best way I could describe it was as if I was holding the front wheel axle between my hands - it was like a knife blade just falling over into the corners!

However, at this time of year don't even think about trying to find out how good that handling is!

Today, after a huge slide on an island under throttle, I've decided that I am officially in Survival Mode until the Winter fks off a bit!

I'll just try to ignore the 3" chicken strips for a few months...

It's ok, cos whenever you stop, all but the centre of your tyre will be coated in a layer of mud and salt - regardless of how much of the tyre you've used on the way.

Pulling out of college today, get on the power and the back spins up to about 10,000 rpm. Whilst quite sexually pleasing, was scary at the same time.
It felt so stable though, had a huge grin on my face.

Be careful mate, 6,000 rpm on this bike is nothing tbh, the rest of the rev range is where the real power is at.

Is it true that revving it up high when its restricted is pointless because there aint much power in the high revs?

The high revs is really where you want to be, if your riding fast on private roads ofcourse. Even restricted it will still pack a punch, not that ive ever ridden it restricted though.

Went out again today

A bit milder today although damp in some places.

Had chance to open it up a little. Feckin ell certainly pulls well after about 10k then more so at 12k. Soon doing illegal speeds. Know now I have the power to get past traffic more safely and without having to drop down too many gears.

Speedo is a little small and hard to just glance at and see what speed your dong, however getting used to where the needle is at certain speeds.

I rode for a good few hours, was ok. Wrist was aching a little but not that much.

Strikes me about reviews is they are generally rubbish.

a) Hard ride - compared to a gs500 yes but not unbearable like some reviews seemed to be saying. Is a bit crashy at times but certainly not 'too hard for the road' imo.

b) Cramped - Well it's a 400 not a harley. A lot of people reviewing it said they're 6ft tall, well what do you expect.

c) No power/torque below 10k. As the power comes in a 10k it makes it seem that way reliativley. Can't say I've rode many bikes but wouldn't say it has no torque.

Just glad I went for it and didn't rely just on some of the reviews!!

Sounds like your having fun mate, as for reviews they can be a bit sketchy, always best to see for yourself i find.

a) the only people i've ever really had complain about the stiff suspension was pillions, unless their heavy enough to really compress it then it becomes a very jarring experience for your passenger.

b) never trust anyone but your own opinion about a bikes comfort, we're all different shapes and sizes and comforts different.

c) this is the truest review statement, below it's rev range it has no torque. it's not a bad thing and i always wonder why reviews complain about it, obviously the person reviewing it has missed something fatally obvious while riding the "sportsbike". i've never understood why people buy a race derived peice of machinery and moan that it's not all that great on the road.
