need help with caliper

hey chaps iam putting this here i know it it the wrong bit but hopefuly it will get seen here.ive got a 1998 zx9r c1 that iam fixing up for some one but ive manged to break the bleed nipple off one of the front calipers. i relly dont want to make the owner pay for this as it all ready got damaged after it was left with me his sun in law droped it cracking the genorator cover and foot peg hanger and mirror iam not paying for this tho. but i just dont want to give him more bad news and some thing else he has to pay for so i was wondering if any one on here had the front half of a righthand caliper thnks kev

toad, thats tough luck! You can always try ebay? I think they are the same calipers as they use on the ZX7R, hayabusa and other suzuki's too, so that gives you a bit more scope on the search front.

thanks rob ive been scoping ebay theres 12 pairs on there some are top $$$$ tho just have to wait as i dont want a full set

na mate its the caliper the threaded part that sticks up off the cailper has broken of ive had this happen to 3 zxr400 calipers the nipples rust and corrode the alloy as well :smt013 check the pic been resized

good luck finding some mate cos i've been bidding on loads for the last 6 months, you'll be lucky to find a set under 50 notes.could you not put a bolt in whats left? or is there no thread left at all??

yeah the thread has gone thought about filing it down and drilling it but really dont like that idea its bad bodgin your own brakes

never mind someone else's just filled the partfinder thing out see what comes of it

seen 1000000s of thos calipers up for sale, were used on lots of bikes (including the zx6r). Give some brakers a call and ask for ZX6R, GSXR (think only SRAD's had them) busa, ZX12R (i think) brakes should be able to pick on up for £50

take it to a local engineering firm and ask them to tap a new thread into it, perfectly safe and a normal thing to do to threads that have been removed by one way or another.

Doesnt work on brake calipers if you snap the nipples housing off, as you then dont have enough room to screw the nipple all the way down and close it. I've done it before to a zxr caliper.
