yeah every phone i've had in the past did but this bugger dont and i've lost my mains charger was wondering if the phone was faulty?

quite possibly faulty id have said being as it wont charge from usb.

nah checked tha manual and all it says is it charges from the mains charger, and the usb is a data cable.

My u600 will charge from the data cable.

no idea about samsung.

I know motorola ones won't charge via USB from a windows PC unless you have their stupid software installed. because they are a bunch of twunts.

However bizarrely it does charge fine off a machine running linux . obv the phone isn't clever enough to recognise non-windows pc's as computers.

I'm never going to buy another phone that doesn't:

a) charge via USB regardless of what the USB power source is.
b) behave as a 'usb mass storage device' when you plug it into a PC.

think im going to stay clear of Samsung as well, not sure what it is but the phone just annoys me. Might be the 1.5 days max worth of battary life, the shity cam or the stuiped tutch sensivtive buttons that i hate so much...

Sony, then nokia are the best phones i've owned!

It does charge, it just takes about 24hours (but won't work through laptops). If you turn the phone off and plug it in it will charge, albeit very, very slowly and it never seems to last as long as a real charge.

yeah it seems to be charging but as soon as i disconnect it it says low battery.

i find samsung build quality quite good, but i think im gona go sony ericson for my next phone

i've had samsungs now for a few years and can't fault any of them, N500, P510, z400, and now the G800 and yes it has finally charged after 3 days on the usb

bloody helll thats a fair old wack on charge lol. just pop to the phone shop an get another charger lol

yeah missus is popping up the town today so gonna see if we can get another.
