Buying ZXR4's (help required)

Hi Gang!
A friend is thinking of buying a ZXR4, she has about £1500+/- to spend. What should she aim for mileage/year wise and what are the things to look out for? She has still to pass her test, and will need the bike restricted. Are Japanese imports different to UK supplied bikes?
Thanks again for any onfo,
Sneaky

As said, £1500 should get you a pretty good one.
Buy on condition, not on age, there were next to no significant changes made from 1990 to 2003.
Again, buy on condition, not on mileage, although £1500 should get you a fairly low miles one. I paid £1900 a few years back for a very clean one with about 8000 miles on the clock, from a dealer (it's now got 18,500 on it, which will be pushed up to over 21k in the next month, and certainly isn't clean

)
Jap market bikes are electronically limited in the speedo to something like 112mph (180kph). Plus they will have km clocks on unless they've been changed. There's a whole range of ways you can derestrict them, all of which you can find on the forum.
It won't matter in the short term anyway, if you are going to have to restrict it to 33bhp it will struggle to get near that limit. Restriction is generally done by washers in the carbs, there's usually someone selling them on here, or the dimensions are kicking around somewhere so you can make your own. Alternatively if you really want you can pay hundreds of pounds for an "official" kit and someone to fit it for you.
Enjoy.

japan drives on the left.
I'm pretty sure the dip beam pattern on the (UK L model) ZXR is symmetric anyway - ie there's no 'flick up' on the left hand side to illuminate signposts/pedestrians.
