Hi,

I just recently bought a Datatool system 3 alarm system and I need someone to fit it for me. Does anyone know where in hertordshire I could get it fitted?

lloyd coopers should be able to. Just depends how much you want to pay!!

If you bought it from new I'd say take it back fast!!

Most should come with free fitting - you have to arrange for the approved engineer to come out and give him a few hours in a covered area.

Think mine was about £300 - but as most garages like to make some profit on the sale of the alarm itself, they'll sting you for fitting, and it will work out cheaper to get it through the official channels.

Are you sure yours hasn't come with fitting?

And I meant to say that most insurance companies won't give a damn about it unless you have the certificate from an approved fitter.

leave it in the box, alarms = problems. It will leave you stuck in the middel of know where at some point wish to god mine didnt have an alarm (and yes it did leave me stuck in the middel of no where...)

I took mine off my zx7r last year cos it packed up, everything worked except it wouldnt let me start my bike, it just turned and turned and turned but didnt fire. Took the alarm off and fixed it.

what makes it more annoying for me is my alarm is just an Immobiliser so its a pain in the butt and dosnt even warn anyone that there stealing the bike just pure annoying

i had an acuman on my ZXR and it was mint, only thing i would say is defo get an optimate.

at the end of the day - an alarm isnt going to stop your bike being knicked. It may scare somebody off touching it.... but thats about it.

Got an alarm on mine - and will never get another one fitted.

And if you keep your bike outside that's what you want it to do.

It's all about peace of mind.

Sure, some people will still steal an alarmed bike, but it will put off 99% of opportunists.

Having seen my VFR carried halfway down my street by two (possibly superhuman) Scrotes, I think an alarm is essential to be able to sleep at night.

exactly i knew if my alarm ever went off the backup device would see off any thief, so i could 100% say my bike werent bein nicked from the garage. it also helps if you park it up anywhere for a while. but if anyone wants anything theres a means i guess.

IMO - opportunists arent the ones you should be worried about. Chaining the bike to something will do a far better job of deterring an opportunist than a professional.

professionals will turn up with a van and will lift the bike into the van with the alarm still going off.

an alarm relies on a) the theif being put off by an alarm going off, and b) someone doing something about it.
Now my alarm has played up, and it was busy going off and i couldnt deactivate it. I was pushing the bike along the road with the alarm going off and noone batted an eyelid.
and sorry - the majority of passers by dont want to get involved so turn a blind eye.

money is far better spent on a good quality chain and (if possible) ground anchor. Then they need tools,... then it gets noisey and inconvient.

and a good quality drill to fit the ground anchor
