don't you just get those days when travelling to work on the zxr and it wants to play, cold tyres, cold bike but it wants to rev and flick left right and centre, takes me about 2 mins from my house to work and didn't nearly make the journey this morning, the zxr was trying to brainwash me into playing all day, i can see it now whimpering in the car park begging me to thrash the balls off it. :smt005

I was having great fun this morning - well, apart from the diesel/mud spill patch and the 10min traffic lights at the top of Moons Moat Drive... :smt013

It's like putting your shoes on and your dog thinking your gonna take it for a walk. It's just a let down. You warm her up, pull out and start skipping past cars, getting limbered up and then... park up and leaving it for 8 or 9 hours.

It is strange to think that although I commute on the ZXR, I probably spend 60-70% of my riding time, riding for fun. That is, riding with no destination other than to return home.

Kawasaki made a phenomenal little bike didn't they...

Yeah, and I would love to, but I'm not very confident yet, and all the weather is doing is raining, so my confidence isn't building rapidly, tbh.

Was that due to constant rebuilds?

My NSR250/ZZR600 have both failed miserably to make the right hand turn into the works car park (I did lean boss but my tyres must have been stuck in a rut). Oddly enough the ability to lean right came right back at the next roundabout, and the next and the next... both occasions I reported for duty after lunch!!!! if I ever get my project zxr on the road I'm sure it will be allergic to work car parks as well!

I work 10 miles from home (in a car) yet oddly enough its 20 miles on a bike because I need the twisties!! Anyone who thinks bikes are cheaper to run isnt using 'em properly!

Car 10 miles 5th gear (about a quid)
Bike 20 miles 2nd and 3rd gear (about 2 quid incl all the black rubber left on the road)

The BEST thing about taking the long way to work an a bike...you get to look forward to doing it backwards all day!!!

Think of it this way, you've just spent 8 hours earning money so you can live. After work, get on the bike, point it at the twisty bits and spend some of that dosh actually LIVING. Face it, if you didnt need to put petrol in the b ugger why would we work?

F*ck work lets party!!

Less than 5 miles to work for me means its only just warm when i get there.
Its funny thou, cos on the way home when all i want to do is get back and relax (12 hour workday) i find that if im on the zxr, i often forget my way home and take a completely route!

Not just when going to or coming back from work though, is it? There have been occasions when I'll get to the turning that turns down into my village, and it's only when I ride straight on past it that I think 'oh, hello, not going home then. Ok, where shall I go now? Those nice turns down by Blacklands? Out towards Upavon? Out towards the Wallops and Salisbury? I guess I'll find out.'

actually it only blew up twice ..

mainly it got nicked a lot...

my zxr's come to bits far more often than the strokers ever did ... but thats largely trying to get them absolutely spot on, where a 19 year old me just wanted it to run, and all the rattle's/flatspots/grinding noises were optimistically interpreted as "character"

this evening's quick test run on Emma's bike (32mm carbs built up out of spares + stainless OE copy headers) took over an hour, a whole tank of fuel and went to landovery and back ..

i knew the midrange was rich within 2 miles.. but .. well ..
