No its absolutely true, ive read it in numerous bike magazines. Doesnt take alot to figure it out really. Your attatching something which weighs 10 times more than a valve cap on your air valve, stick that in ya wheel at 140mph and centrifugal force is going to pull the top of the tyre flies to the outside of the wheel, it will eventually; when centrifugal force becomes high enough, cause the valve to bend.
Over time it will fatigue the rubber on the valve and split letting let air out, or it will simply let air out as the valve is bent right over. Loss of tyre pressure isnt something id want at any speed!
