Just see this pic on Drew Sans thread and his new H1.
anyone notice the K-CAS, Kawasaki Cool Air System.
Any thoughts people? cos i also notice that all the H models shown in the 'japanese model ID' thread have this sticker.

So, cooling for the head? Seems to have a purpose?

its meaningless, its so the airbox is breathing "fresh air" instead of "musty sat under the tank air"... but the intakes are in the wrong place on the fairing to actually draw air in anyway ..
and Drew's bike is an H2

Well...
As you point out, the position of the intakes on the fairing is crap - to the point where I have a suspicion that at high speeds they probably suck air out from under the tank rather than pushing it in.
However at low speeds it is probably the path of least resistance for air to get into the intake area, so it probably does have a beneficial effect on the intake charge temperature compared to having it sealed off so the air has to be sucked up past the engine.

Does it cool the engine?

hmm, there's an enormous radiator behind the front wheel, designed for efficient heat transfer between air and coolant, the coolant itself being pumped round all parts of the engine, including the head.
or there's a light puff of air hitting the top of the airbox.
I'll leave it up to you to decide

exactly. It's just an iconic ZXR thing - I might muck around with the tail of my bike, and with different headlights, and so on, but I'd never change that - whether they do anything or not.

Pleased to hear that Deviant! Its one thing they should keep should they ever reproduce the ZXR400.

and they dont obscure your view, unlike my rvf400 which had fixed solid black intakes
looking between them towards to clocks was similar to squinting thru a letterbox!
gem
