Man, my chain was badly tensioned.

Now that I've adjusted it, it's so much smoother, there's so much less clackety noise, and she seems to be pulling a bit better!

That said, I think I will probably look into a new chain and a new set of sprockets. I remember seeing a thread a little while ago about smaller sprockets.
AFAIK, the sprocket set I have now is standard. If I get a new set, I'd be thinking to lose a few teeth, so what would you reccomend, 14/47?

i mean like .. fit what you want .. but they're buzzy enough as it is .. 14/47 makes 6th the same as 5th with 15/45 ..

You could get a cool coloured chain, kawasaki green perhaps?

£50 for non 'o' ring - not ideal for road or £70 for 'o' ring. RK takasago - ace chains, i've used them for last 3 years. They are listed on ebay and its probably cheapest place for them

i dont use anything but DID chains now, everthing else dies from the abuse in the same time that i first have to ajust the DID.

tsubaki chains have lasted well for me and i can kill DID/IRIS stuff in 3000 miles ..

got a non o-ring EK racing chain going on the 400 next .. if i cant make more power i'll reduce friction and weight !

not good on the road though, killed a renthal race chain in 200 miles before now cos i forgot to carry chain lube with me.

This is for the 'o' ring chain http://www.leisuretrail.co.uk/Home.htm its a ktm dealer but will sell you the 'o' ring coloured chain of your choice, i bought a blue one from them last, ace service. Think they come in 120 link only and they are 520 pitch. I have seen the 'o' ring version on ebay but cant find any at present.

Ok, to clarify, is there a stud pattern fitment for either of the sprockets on the ZXR? Or would this fit, if fitment is universal enough?

The theory being that I could specify the sprocket set, and have the green chain.

afaik, you need specific ZXR sprockets..

there's nothing to stop you buying it all separately

personally, chains should be gold, or silver .. but in reality are sludge coloured.

I'll see what "green" chains i can get with "O" rings in 520 pitch.

Yeah, I figured it'd get nice and grubby, but it would look cool whenever I gave it a damned good going over. It also was another theory, that if I have a spanky green shiny chain, I'd be more motivated to clean it thoroughly and take much better care of it in doing so.

i suggested it cause there is less chance of it rusting, i used the same chains in mx and supermoto and even with mud etc they still looked great. Quick jet wash and bit of parafin and it comes up good.

green, blue, black, yellow and red available although the red seems to go pink. Plenty of bsb/wsb bike teams use them

never thought about the rust issue ..

which considering this was parked in my garage a year ago..

thats a 500 mile old chain btw .. after i bought some wurth dry chain lube during a rideout to matlock..that turned out to be brake cleaner with the wrong label on it, then didnt use the bike for a few weeks.
