Hey there everyone!!

I am doing a challenging (challenging for me! shocking ) charity walk up Snowdon on 27th September in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind.. the charity has recently lost a few fundraising events and a friend has organised this.. We are going up as a group.. anyone wishing to join us are welcome!! We are trying to raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile cause...

I would be most grateful for any support from ZXRclub members and forum visitors... :please

Please check out http://www.justgiving.com/SNOWDONGUIDEDOGS which is a site where you can donate safely online.. and add supporting comments!!

Many many thanks tkyou :excited

I've done the Watkin path twice, you get some really fantastic views once your on the ridge and even better when you reach the sumit, give yourself enough time and take alot of water. I'm sure you already know this though, any questions... ask away.

A good base level fitness will see you through it, People with injuries, past or present, heart conditions etc shouldn't do it. Its about 3 miles long and the steepest route up the mountain as it starts from the lowest point. There are pleanty of places to stop on the way up, there is even a waterfall with the clearest water I have ever seen in my life which you can jump in if you really feel like it (although when we did it - it was 25 degrees!). Make sure you take some good clothes, water and some food thats high in carbs. Take it slow but allow yourself enough time, give yourself atleast 2-2.5 hours for the ascent.

EDIT - Oops. I'm a day late, so, how did it go?

Hey I made it!!!! mexwave

Cheers Scott for the advice and cheers Baz for the good luck!! biggrin

It was a beautiful day and the sun shined all day for us. Well for someone who had never even seen a mountain close up i was taken aback about how stunning it was.. the walk we did was very beautiful. We made a steady pace and the blind guy we took with us.. (we were raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind) did really well and we guided him as best we could all the way.. It was quite hot and those waterfalls looked very tempting on the way up.. but we said maybe on the way down! We stopped every so often to rest and made a steady climb. Some of our group decided to take a slight short cut and climb up the grass up to the ridge..the rest of us carried on and met them further round... the last part up the steep, vertical stoney part was quite hard and a little terrifying to some as it was quite slippy in places but hey we made it!! The views were truly amazing!! :excited We had some grub at the top and decided to take a different path down while the macho guys again took the hard route and brought the cars round the mountain to pick us up!! lol
Will post a couple of pics up ... if any of you still wish to sponsor do let me know or go to
http://www.justgiving.com/SNOWDONGUIDEDOGS
which is a great cause and will be grateful for any donation.. however small or big!! winks xxxx

The views when your on the ridge are something else aye! I know the part you are on about, its a bit dodgey, fair play to the blind guy for getting up there as well. Did you see any jets flying through the valleys?! One came through right over Snowdon last time I was there and absolutely scared the toad out of me!!!
