It is probably one of the worst things you can do on a bike... Imagine a car at a junction waiting to turn right across your path - he sees you indicating left and pulls out assuming you're going to turn in before him...
Bad luck though, fella - I'm sure you'll get it next time!

i was always told when driving or riding, if i see another road user indicating, just wait
the indicators dont make the vehcile turn, its the wheels
something thats always stuck in my head

Same here. I rarely indicate at all unless it means I'm going to have to make other road users brake or avoid me. Most times it's unneccesary.

Good idea i will use arm signals on the next test and if i forget to bring my arm back in then i really must stick to 4 wheels

ROFL...
classic... i can imagine now. you see a class bike looking like its been on display at the nec bike show then all of a sudden the arm signaling the turn comes out... are you goin to put any on baz or have you just not got round to it... wondering how it passed mot lol.
as for the signaling ye i wait too cos you never know and to be fair i have had a couple of bikers go past indicating so its a good job i do wait.... its still your fault too if you pull out even if they are indicating.
if you struggle to remember just grab an acumen cat 1 alarm they have auto bleepers on so if you leave the indy on too long it sounds an annoyin bleep that gets louder. (althoe that is annoying when you are waiting at a junction with your indicator on)
