Hi,

I've heard about these colour tuning kits going around, 1. are they actually any good? 2. Are they easy to use? and 3. How well does the bike perform after the tune?

I'm really thinking of getting 1 but not hearing any feedback on them I'm kind of hesitating.

colourtunes are donkeys years old, heard lots of people use them but never any feedback, you just put screw them in place of your plug then screw the plug into them and tune the bike til the right colour shows, how accurate they are ???

They certainly get your air/fuel mix right and you see a very nice Blue flame in them.

However, I found that on long spark plug tunnel engines (Was using on a ZZR600) they are difficult to use. On the older air cooled engines like a Z they are are doddle to use and see.

For modern bikes I recommend you spend the extra coin and get a battery operated gas analyser for long term use - Halfords do them.

When you turn each airscrew you can hear the engine go off and the analyser / colour tune will change you then slowly adjust until the motor run's smooth again.

They are what , car tuners and dyno operators use while tuning your motor.

A probe is placed up your pipe (ooer missus) to measure the exhaust gases and runs off a 12V battery. If your going to do your own service work on all your vehicles it's worth the investment. If your just wanting to make sure your bike is running well a good dealership should sniff the fumes and adjust for a £10
