Hi,

Is there anyone on here that knows how to stubbyfy a micron end can? I've had a brief look at it but darent touch it incase I dont know what I'm doing and f*** it up for work.

Hi mate - see pic below. This was a bit of a challenge but it worked out fine in the end!!

The steps are pretty simple - the only bit that takes a bit of thought is making sure that the sleeve is cut to the right size to fit the new carrier and that when welding the darrier back together the orientation is right

1) Take off the two end covers (in reality you only need one removed)
2) slide of the sleeve
3) remove the packing
4) THE INTERESTING BITs - Cut the centre section of the carrier removing as much as you need to achieve "stubby". I used a hand saw for this which meant a bit of dicking about to square ends up afterwards
5) Clamp and spot weld the two halves - check properly altigned.
6) Fully weld out - depending on the carrier you may need some strenghtening straps as welding this can be a bit tricky as it is full of holes
7) Cut and wrap packing
New rubber end seals if required (£4.95 of e-bay)
9) Bolt back up and admire your handywork!!

Total time spent (first time I had done this) = 3hours but a lot of that was spent sorting out the best method / cutting and sorting out my welding skills.
