just make sure you got some winter gloves and plenty of clothing to keep you warm.

get yourself a set of heated grips and fit them before you go - you'll be thankful for them!
wear plenty of layers and take extra clothes with you.
Considering theyre forecasting subzero temperatures and snow this weekend, are you sure you want to travel???

how easy are heated grips to fit? where do they wire in?

erm.... you can get them on very quickly, if you're not too fussy about how the cables are routed. You can connect them straight up to the battery. But be warned, if you leave them on - you'll end up with a flat battery.

I've got them wired into a relay - with the feed coming from my headlights. Means I cant leave them on :-). They took an afternoon to fit in a tidy & permanent way.

some of the new grips will actually turn them selfs off if the bat drops below such and such voltage. Plus you can always bump start it.

ride will be fine, i made the mistake of going to a ridout 120 miles away from my house with just summer leathers once, weather changed and it snowed all the way home. I had to pull over twice to "deice" my helmet in the service stations (head un the dryer, hands were to cold to undo the straps...).

Wasnt the nicest ride of my life but good experiance! Nothing a hot bath didnt sort out when i got home! Worst thing was all the cagers slowing down to 30 mph when all i wanted to do was get home, thus started the crazy 80 mph filtering in a snow blizzard.

Like said take lots of layers, spare socks and gloves for when they get damp remember you'll be stoping every 120 miles or so for petrol anyway.

just got back... never doing that in january/feb again!!

ride up there was pretty good had prety clear skies the entire route stopping 4 times.

got absoloutly hammerd for 2nights becouse me mate is a bar manager up there and lets say a good mate!, bad idea!

set off today before the newcastle/sunderland game and felt abit ruff was good riding for the first 200 miles then i hit a blizzard near lincolnshire... couldnt see past about 5-10metres off the road was fukin scary! stopped off and spent like 2hours in the service station to give it time to stop and only just got back (9 oclock)

i forgot to wear loads of layers but didnt feel the cold atall. hands were alright actualy! i was using the spada enforcer WP gloves with no thermals underneath, hein gerik all wheather trousers, arlen ness all wheather jacket, 1 of them HAD scarfs and the alpine star s-mx 4.

all in all a messy weekend to say the least! oh and i saw 2 of the guys from MCN in a service station
