A little tip from me....................

If you come across something you don't understand or a name of something you cannot comprehend or if you see something and cannot think where to get it then remember this...............

Google it ior Yahoo it or any number of search engines it or search ebay for it........................example as seen on this forum this morning.

Even if you dont want to buy it Ebay will often help tell you what something is

The internet is probably one of the most useful tools in your tool box.....................use it

There was a discussion about this on TheRevCounter a few weeks ago.

After reading, it makes perfect sense to me that in cold weather, condensation will gather in your fuel tank above the level of your petrol, which will then sit in your tank and possibly corrode it, or go through the rest of your fuel system, potentially causing big problems.

The thing is, I've now ridden through 9 Winters, and not once has water in my fuel been a major concern. I have had the bike splutter on a few rare occasions due to water - but I'm pretty sure that was more to do with bad fuel (possibly water from the underground storage tank?), and when riding in torrential downpours when water was getting in the ram air ducts.

I'm sure we SHOULD all drain the excess water from our tanks as a maintenence thing, but if it's never been a problem for me then I doubt I'll bother.

What you DO need on your bike, is a coating of ACF50 - it works miracles, and even after months of riding in grit a simple quick wash will have the bike back to new. Essential stuff. If they use it to protect planes from corrosion, it's got to be good on a road bike!

Check it out: http://www.acf-50.co.uk/acf50.htm

I've been meaning to start a thread about it, but I only got it mid-December so for most people it was a bit too late to treat their bikes... and I only washed my bike for the first time a few weeks ago lol!

I doubt I'll ever buy WD40 again.

Well i think we need to convince everyone on the forum to get it on their bikes :D

Really is the best thing to buy for ur bike in winter.

Might not stop downpipe rot from the inside but it'll definately stop other things corroding on the outside of the bike.

Please dont get smart and try spraying it down ur exhaust/downpipes as im sure it wouldnt be a good idea :p

I doubt it'd do any harm - it'd just stink and then all burn away anyway!

My tips are: Don't get it on your tyres/brakes... and watch where you treat the bike, because the ground where I sprayed it a few months ago is STILL like an ice-rink!
