Double Bubble

Post by 86zxr01 »

Hi all,

Does anyone ride with a db screen? I have to say that the standard screen does do a good job but wondering if the db screen makes any more wind protection. I also think it looks slightly better, is it worth it?

LOL I told Gemini I was getting one the other day and he wasn't very supportive at all! :smt003 Words like 'old' and 'gay' may have been thrown around!

I swapped my standard screen on the 400 for a DB for courier work and it made a huge difference. If you're doing long motorway miles they'll improve just about every aspect of it - from fuel economy to comfort to wind noise. I've found they're especially useful if you're using a tank bag, because you can still duck down behind the screen.

The standard screen on the 400 will just about deflect wind over your chin if you lay it on the tank, and my 9r is about the same, so I'm getting one.

Just don't get a flip screen instead, because they ARE for old gays. :smt002

Haha well i like them :smt014 think I may have to fit one soon. I'll post some b4 and after pics if I actually get round to it. Can always replace it with the original if I dont like it. :smt018
Is it really beneficial to petrol consumption? confuddled

if you do any long motorway miles DB screens are awesome, you only need to tilt forward slightly and 90% of that windblast just disappears :excited

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Yes.

It's the equivalent to taking a hoofing great roof rack off a car for most bikes. It'll also give you a few extra mph on your top speed because you're more streamlined! :smt002

There's not that much difference if you get a decent one.

I think the main thing is that people pick some weird colour that just shouldn't be allowed (like green).

I think the iridium coloured ones can go either way... I thought hard about getting one before, but most people say the finish isn't up to much on them. I'll be going for clear this time around just so I can rig a camera up to the dash again!

Well I've bought a black db screen so I'll fit it this weekend if possible and see what its like, im on a mission to Aberystwth soon so will be useful. I never thought about a camera though as I was thinking of filming some longer trips. Oh well just have to get a helmet cam instead or just hold it as im going along shocking

Thanks for the pics Jamz, definately better with & agree that those bright green screens are an aquired taste

Iv got a double bubble on mine, clear plastic one tho, looks more racy than a coloured one and not so fucking gay either. Youll defo notice the difference if you get one, especially at 145 mph!

Standard screens are designed to make the bike look nice on a stand at a bike show.

DB Screens all the way for a bike that actually gets used.
In the garage:
Kawasaki ZXR400 L3 - shiny
Suzuki DR800 - bouncy
1978 Suzuki GS400 - PROJECT RETRO RACER!
Kawasaki GPz500S - for sale soon
Honda CG125 BR-J - in bits

I personally think DB screens look better than standard :D

Looking at getting a black one for my ZXR.
If it's broke spray it with WD40, if it's still broke spray it again and leave it over night, if it's still broke, bin it.
