Got the gsxr back together now, was wondering if anyone could advise me on the best way to start the bike having just whacked the carbs on?
Dont want to flood it or flatten my battery thats all!

it might take a while to fire, obviously its gunna take a lil while for the carbs to fill up, dont be tempted to give itsome throttle, u will flood it, ive made that mistake too many times lol

Best thing is to fire in some "easy start" into the carbs - bike will fire first time

wooo its running, ran the battery flat before i realised the fuel tap wasnt on

went to the top of a big hill near me and after a few attempts it started!
Will only tick over with the throttle wide open otherwise stalls though

so got some serious carb sorting to go

my zxr was doing exactly the same thing, had the wrong float heights and the plastic clip that goes on the spring and holds the float needle in place were all fitted wrong, dont know if its the same setup on youre bike though

well just whipped the carbs off and the float heights are all wrong, vary from 14-16mm ish, and supposed to be 20mm.
So will sort that and then give it a go

I dont really know its history im afraid, must have done though as milage is 8k, cant imagine going that far at about 5mph (the top speed i have had it up the road ticking over at about 2k rpm!)
Does anyone know how to adjust the float height as i cant work it out? Found this guide on the internet
http://tonysleep.co.uk/gsxr400carbs which is prety helpful but doesnt say how to adjust them, and im a bit stuck

right, top of the carb (float cover) had been bodged together with sealant and was leaking fuel, so thats been replaced with one from my spare, the float heights are now sorted and another broken part has been replaced using a spare set of donor carbs!
Now to get it back together and try it again!
