Bought myself a gsxr 600 (2001 K1), was a little tired of having to race the zxr everywhere and being shattered after riding it for more than an hour.
That said i've still very much enjoyed owning one, just great to throw around corners!
So the zxr will be up for sale soon.

How much faster does it feel?
Hard to put into words. It's got around 45bhp more and hardly any heavier,(around 4kg) but it's the torque that makes
it easier to ride. Don't have to change down gears to overtake like on the zxr.
Also pulling away from low speeds in 2nd or turning at low speeds don't have to ride the clutch. You can ride it slowly if you
barely touch the throttle. Only given it nearly full throttle in 2nd and really had to hold on was actually quite scared really. Also it's more refined, been doing high speeds and doesn't feel that fast atall.
The other main difference is the engine braking, roll off and you've slowed by 10mph straight way, so it's a smoother ride.
The gsxr actually feels quite a bit heavier getting it off the stand, I guess the weight in the zxr is lower down, so you don't feel it.
Glad I didn't jump on a 600 straight away, zzr 250/zxr400/gsxr 600. I certainly don't feel like i've wasted my time getting a zxr, the gsxr is just a newer bike with more power. But having the zxr for about 15 months and learning how to ride it certainly has made the step up easier. Getting used to the gsxr very quicky.
Be sad to see the zxr go, be nice bike for someone, dark purple and low mileage. I'll stick it in the for sale section at some point.

Sounds like quite a step then. A friend of mine who's been riding a while told me that its a big step going from sports 400 to a 600. Thats kind of what I thought more torque, almost twice as much extra horsepower giving better acceleration (obviously).
Downshifting to overtake is fun, but as a day 2 day bike im sure it would be nice just to twist the thottle and go.
Im sure the front wheel pops up in 1st and 2nd with no clutch quite easily

Very nice looking bike! That a Yoshi pipe? Bet it sounds the nut's!
Agree totally with what you are saying. I started on a ZXR400 restricted to 33bhp, then unrestricted for almost 2 years and now have a 6R. The 6R feels loads smoother but I reckon if I hadn't had the 400 my riding would not be as controlled. The ZXR400 is an awesome bike for starting on. Do have days when I wish I still had the 400.

Nice bike, how much did that set you back? They're fetching a premium at the moment being spring and with the new test, so hope you got a good deal!
You should be able to get a fair wedge for the ZXR as well with any luck

It's a K2, not a K1 as I stated in the first post, just automatically wrote K1.
Paid £2400, it had done just under 10k, fsh etc. Got the original screen/exhauast and pillion seat too.
They were going cheaper than that back in winter, but I dithered about and ended up paying more.
Although the model I have probably isn't worth any more it's nice to have something that stands out from the crowd.

Jigga - lovelly set of wheels, can I ask how tall you are as I'm 5' 5'' and was wondering what 600 I would be able to fit. Have sat on a few Kwak 600s but couldn't touuch the floor lol.
Cheers Paul

I'm about 5ft 7, and short legs. I can get about half my feet on the floor, the seat height/weight is fine though.

Just to add.
I'm sturggling a bit reversing. Espically on a gradient. As I can only touch the floor with half feet cant get grip to get bike moving. Then I have to lean it over to get other foot down.
A reverse gear would be handy!!
