ok probaly been asked before.
zxr400 h2 restricted.
speedwise
shoots up to 140-150kmph and then starts to struggle. (normal??)
fuel consumption 172KM to a rimmed tank and 189km till the tank goes ding and the engine cuts out >< .
also will having it restricted make it more thirsty?

All sounds normal for a restricted zxr400 H (and L models). Mine started to struggle at around 80 - 90mph, would give me 100miles a tank (to reserve) roughly so times that all by 1.6 and it's about right.
As for will it make it more thirsty with restrictors, I would think not. If anything will use a little less fuel I would say as you won't be using the top end of the 10,000rpm to 14,000rom range.

Ive had a whopping 106mph out of my restricted bike, as on the satnav(speedo said about 115 lol) (woohoo!), but it seriosuly struggles after about 95, in fact my dinky 1.5litre clio has a better top end
fuel sounds about right, i ran out at bout 126miles once, stranded lol :wanker

yeah between 90-100mph is right for a restricted bike, thats all both my gs500s did.
as for the fuel consuption, it should be better because the way a carbed restriction works is a rubber bung/washer type thing in the carbs that restricts the fuel flow thus reducing the power output and top speed.

umm well my bike revs straight to 14k

and howls, and the restrictors are just washers in the inlet side of the engine retricting airflow...
nout to do with my carbs

Is that while you are riding it, ie in gear or is that in neutral, sitting still. Mine used to rev to 14k when in neutral even with restrictors in. They aren't under any pressure so would allow you to rev it high.
Limiting air or fuel has the same effect I think. If you limit the amount of air you have to adjust the fuel or it will run like crap, or if you limit the amount of fuel you need to adjust the amount of air. When I had my restrictors taken out I had to get Nick to do the carbs as it ran like a bag of toad.

duno then mate, im just going by the restrictors in my gs500, that was in the carbs. i mite b totaly wrong and it may of done the air flow. but either way it shud use less fuel coz les air means less fuel and vise versa.

By the time the air has got to the restrictors it has already passed the jets, so i'm pretty sure the same amount of fuel will be sucked out. However, less air will be getting to the engine, so will run very rich!
So it sounds like carneys carbs may have been rejetted for the restriction and when they came out it ran too lean, a lean mixture gives bugger all power!!

in first second and third.

probably the wind
the way welshdk did it seems to be the way to restrict if you do it!
