Quick MOT Question - FRONT WHEEL

Hi Guys,

Bike is booked for MOT tomorrow.

Checked everything over, and it seems fine, apart from one thing.

The front brake drags a little. By this I mean if you spin it, it will sping 3-4 rotations, then stop.

Will this fail the MOT?

Or will it be ok at this level?

Just wanted to know if I could play on it 2nite, or if I had to fix it

Cheers

You will always get a certain amount of drag on floating discs and opposed piston calipers. However you dont say what force you are putting in to make it turn 3 or 4 times :smt003

Depends how bad the drag is, as it could be deemed that it would not allow the wheel to spin "freely". However they dont really check for the rotation of the wheel "freely" but they will test the brakes and if the brakes are locked on they will fail it for this, they will however check the front wheel bearings with the front wheel off the ground, so hopefully its not making any dreadful noises that will make the MOT tester look at other things.

From the way you have described it though, it does seem like it should be fine.

Just incase anybody else is thinking this @ MOT time - It passed and he didnt mention the front end at all :)

Just got a 'very slight bind' on the rear brake, not even worthy of an advisory :D

12 months MOT and Tax now - The roads are my Left Knee down oyster! lol
