Jsut done my first track session on the ZX6R at Brands Hatch. AWESOME!! :excited

Was a real buzz riding round the track and had the right knee scraping well, the left just touched but was really hard to do and that hill off the start finish straight is a WHOLE lot steeper than it looks on TV!!

winks

Mine should be on the road hopefully by the end of this week coming - would have been by the start of said week, but Busters fecked up my order, and left me without a new set of front brake pads.
I've also got a lovely, if bodged, new can ready to go on her after the MOT - aluminium race can, stubbied!

Had it on briefly earlier, and it sounds absolutely fucking EVIL.

We'll have to go for a ride when it is, dude, I'll give you a ring!

What are they like with aftermarket cans down there? I've heard limits are quite stright and as mine hasn't any baffles I've been worried it won't be allowed on vsad

I keep meaning to head down there as I'm only about 20 mins from Brands, no chance of that until I get a new top cap on my fork though :smt001

They do a sound test just after the brief. I have a standard can so had no probs but my mate had to go back and get his baffles before they would let him ride.

That's a good point. Won't do anything irreversible to the Micron just yet then.

Don't think mine would pass down there vsad , might have to try one of those universal noise killer thingies from ebay if I do go down there, don't really want to drill the end of my can to fasten it though, will find another way :smt002

I wish i had time this summer to do more trackdays!! I only live about an hour from cadwell! The only trackday i have done is mallory park, they carried out no noise checks (just as well with some of the cans on aprillias/ducatis, was deafening!) They didn't look at anyones bike once! Or check i had any sort of license, they simply asked me my name lol.

I AM doing one soon - hopefully Donington, and then there's Oulton and Mallory in a couple of months with an instructor I know, so might go for those, too!

The difference is I'm going to shell out £200 to hire an R6. Thinking about it, though, is £200 really a lot of money? I mean, assuming you get 120+ mins on track that should be plenty to cook your tyres and brake pads - so that's over £200 costs right there! Plus there's insurance, fuel (well one tank anyway) and wear and tear on the rest of the bike.

And I won't have to worry about killing my only transport and properly -ing myself over if I did drop it.

On a 400 i don't think a day on track is enough to kill normal road tyres or a set of brake pads...on a 600 i don't know.
But yea it is probably worth it for piece of mind that it isn't ure bike.

Maybe not brake pads, and the tyres might be ok for road use after, but even if you're replacing those every two trackdays I think that's worth hiring a bike for.

I'm not happy about it being a 600 because I've never ridden a sports 600, but I'm sure it's easily fast enough to scare me on a track... I will be trying to blag a go on a 600 before the day, though.

If I say I'll save money and use my own I'm sure I'll just put it off again and again and again... so fk it here's my money and GIMME! :excited

I just need to buy some 1piece leathers off Ebay that are up to the job...

Although it will be more than £200 if you do drop it, as they have a hefty damange deposit from what I've seen :smt001
