good chance the bearing is shagged then

Theoretically, It is that simple, but sometimes the old ones can be a bugger to get out.

Having read this I can find no evidence whatsoever to confirm that the wheel bearings are worn................none

Nobody even tried to answer the orginal question

The symtoms described could just as easilly be a soft front tyre or a front brake binding even just a worn front tyre.

To be certain of worn wheel bearings you need to grab a hold of the wheel and feel for a movment in the bearings....................

When you say front brake binding, what does that mean.when i'm riding the bike you can hear a noise as though the pads are constantly scrapping the discs.I had the front wheel up on the stand and it didn't feel like there was any play in it.

if the brake is binding it basically means its caught on the disc (not returning to the caliper body) if you dont feel play in the bearings, but you are getting a rub on the front then this is more likely the issue - it means taking off the calipers, stripping and rebuilding - the pistons are a bugger to get out though ! i ended up having to buy a new set of brakes when i had this issue, as just couldnt get them out

its also an mot fail if the brake is binding - to check it, just get the bike in the stand and push the wheel to hear / see if it is catching. If it is only doing it in a particualr spot (not all the time) then it will be a warped disc that is the issue.

could also be that teh fork legs are low on oil ??? i had the same issue with mine handling oddly - turned out that the one fork seal was leaking badly, so their was hardly any oil in there, so when i went around a left hand corner it compressed really quickly, whereas the other one that was full of oil / not leaking took longer to compress, so made it feel really unstable

Wheel bearings also will be prone to clonking, if they are shagged. My mate has a VFR, and we diagnosed this on it only the other day.

dont count out the head bearings either. If bearings need replacing a sure sign is movement, head bearings can be adjusted out tho.
