polishing carb slides

is there an advantage to this? just looking at mine even after theyve been polished (thankyou banner, they came out gleaming) there is still some corrosion as the sonicator can't remove that, its jus one of those things that i look out and think 'while its apart...' any views? theory being less friction, smoother air flow, hopefully increased throttle response, though drilling out the hole in the slide with a 3.1mm drill bit works alot better (vacuum carbs, bigger hole, more air, more pressure difference, easier to rectify as more air can get through, i found this link which is on CVK carbs

also one person mentions dry film lubricant, as there are always marks on the slides where they rub, would this work? thanks, Ross
