Fumes.

Does anyone using Superplus or similar, and garaging their ZXR find after a fill up and warm day run out the fumes are bad from the breather.
Please say yes, as otherwise I have a mystery leak, carbs are just recently back on the bike and all seemed dry and well.

I'm hoping it was just the shock of a warm day, I do not want to strip it down again, bike is also sitting on a fetching dusky blue carpet which is bone dry with no petrol whatsoever on it.

Just found the problem, bloody tank edge is seeping beside the fuel tap, when I got the bike someone had bodged a leak fix, I sanded it down and JB welded and resprayed to seal it again, obviously JB weld ain't the answer without resealing the tank internally.

Unless Superplus eats through JB weld and 95 doesn't.

Any other products that will seal externally without having to coat the inside of the tank???

Buy a non leaking tank from ebay.

Have the Kreem set sitting here for another project, sameish stuff, replacing the tank is the obvious answer, but means spraying etc, probably.
I dropped my lid on the tank and dinged it and was about to add a hide the dent sticker over it, least of my problems now.

Might go for another temp fix as the bike is due out on a long run soon.

As its out of sight my "pikey" fix could be some fuel resistant resin/glue with fuel resistant ptfe tape covered in more resin.

OR take cargo up on his herin witnessed kind offer of fixing it for me, whilst I stand well out of the way.........again.

I'll take buggered on face value, my tank is perfect in every way, if you ignore the fact it can't hold it's liquor.

Should also have asked you banner if you had used that slosh stuff from your link above??? Any good???

I will also be investing in a fire extinguisher, seriously the fumes in my garage are bad, miscalculated draining the tank, had a slight overflow issue, ciggie anyone???

cant say i have, but there are several types of this stuff on the market, my bikes near-mint - i would just buy a second hand good tank and get it sprayed, if you need decals im getting some from (http://www.sunrisegraphics.co.uk/) so ill let you know how they turn out.

Do update on the sunrisegraphics quality.
Have just ordered that slosh stuff as a temporary, or if I'm lucky permanent fix, will be on the lookout for a tank no doubt.

JB weld is actually meant to be fuel resistant, the seepage is from an area where I was probably too liberal with the stuff.

Managed to find a tank with only 600 miles on the clock, bloody thing is it came attached to this beauty
