main jets

Post by bob64bob »

hi
bike L9 with a non standard end can and non standard foam filter, everything else standard as far as i know
bike is running rough around 5 rpm and 9 rpm , like choke is on , its hard work to get through it, so i have took the carbs off to clean and a general check, i found the main jets to be 100, looking at the manual it says standard main jets 95, my question is should i put it back to standard jet size ? because of the end can would it require a bigger jets? i know it all revolves around plug color but i am just trying to get a starting point for jet size

cheers for any help

That's needle controlled revs, get to the affected revs and open the choke slightly, if the bike gets better you need some m3 washers under each needle to riches the midrange.

JPN ZXR250 A2 (1990) - Revs to 19,200rpm... 'nuff said :smt003

cleaned carbs and reset air screws to 1 1/2 out , runs better but still rough in mid range , putting choke on makes no difference, would that suggest a little rich ?
