i take it your filters are present in the tank? not quite sure how to get rust out from inside the tank? but how did it get there in the first place? any crap in the tank should be stopped by the filters inside the tank and the inline fuel filter.

master, the rust comes from when a bike is left standing, from condensation.
way i did mine....
striped tank, and filters (u must take reserve tap out)
put in a loda of washers, gravel and coins, together with water. shook it about for ages, and keep rinsing.
thne after it had dried i used this resin stuff from ebay. was about £20.
so mixed it up and poured it into the tank, and again shook it about and let it dry.
now i mean some rust is still there, but its covered up by the resin, plus ive got 2 filters in the tank, a maaahhhooosive inline filter, and a filter in each carb to trap any crap.

You can buy this stuff called 'metal ready' from Frost Restorations catalogue that actually disolves rust but leaves good metal alone. It's brilliant stuff. Put some in your tank, seal it up with duck tape and swill around for a few hours and the rust is gone. I've used it and it works. I even de-rusted a whole ZXR exhaust back down to the metal.
They sell it on it's own or as part of a tank repair kit.
