have no idea how it gets that bad looks like you havent clean them in 30 years! hows the inside of your tank looking? might be worth giving it a good clean out

i cant rember the name of it but you should really use acid NOT water to clean out the tank as water will rust the inside as acid will strip all the crap out!

judging by this pic i'd say the fuel has gone off, try using the bike more?
invest in a decent fuel filter, preferably one you can wash out.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

theres a chemical you can get which 'seals' the tank inner. Like a layer on the metal thats impervious to petrol. Have a look on ebay.

Re: Tell me how this .............
check the internal breather from the fuel cap to the rear of the tank is clear, if it isnt then any rain/spray etc that gets on top of the tank will sit under the cap and instead of draining away will seep into the tank... it sucks ..
other than that, new fuel filter, new lines.. should be ok, ...
oh and if you are going to pressure wash the inside of a fuel tank, fill it with boiling water afterwards then immediately empty it and put it somewhere warm (i know there's been no sunshine in the last 6 months but .. hey) this way it will dry out better.. or chuck a few litres of diesel/parafin in there to get the water out before re-fitting..
